Another day, another change to the platform once known as Twitter. Musk first announced the planned swap in a post on X last Friday, though it took days for the site to be rebranded. It's the latest change in Musk's ongoing transition of Twitter to X that has upended the social media platform's hallmarks, such as its lexicon and logo.
TweetDeck is a customizable dashboard that allows users to view multiple feeds simultaneously. On July 3, Musk's company announced updates to the platform and said the feature would be accessible exclusively to verified users in 30 days, though that restriction doesn't seem to have been put into effect.
Despite the name change, the tool's URL still contains the name TweetDeck, and when not logged in, the site still mentions "Twitter" and features a blue bird. These speedy alterations have characterized much of Musk's rebranding of Twitter. Musk quickly tossed out Twitter's blue bird logo as part of the rebrand, replacing it with an X.
The change to X was mocked by users due the letter's association with pornography. The changes also encountered hurdles, such as Apple's App Store policy that requires an app's name be at least two characters long. The overnight changes to the company's San Francisco headquarters triggered concerns among local authorities, who said they were unable to access the company's bright, rooftop X signwhich has since been taken down.
